BIO AND CONTACT
Kirsten Brehmer works across a variety of mediums including photography and video. Through her work she explores the way individuals orient themselves in the world. She is interested in how people navigate place and intimacy in relation to personal psychology around objects, physical space, and social connection.
Born in Tampa FL, and raised in Steamboat Springs, CO, Kirsten Brehmer received her MFA from California College of the Arts in 2017. She was awarded the Andrew W. Mellon Grant in the Summer of 2013, and has taken part in the AICAD residency in Brooklyn, New York in 2016. Her work has been exhibited at The Hallie Ford Museum in Oregon, Fused Space in San Francisco, on Alcatraz, and at Studio Grand, CTRL+SHFT, and Flowers Gallery in Oakland. She is an active member of CTRL+SHFT Collective and currently lives and works in Oakland, CA.
